Easter Island. 1960. Orongo. Rock with a makemake petroglyph. Lorenzo Dominguez was stricken by the similitude between two plastic solutions: his own depiction of Death" over the surface of a black granite cube (see Lorenzo Dominguez. Catalog P58 - 1949), and the one chosen by an anonymus Rapanui artist for this face of makemake, the "god of the big eyes," on two flat, angled planes of a rock.
